What I pack in my Carry-On

trip, airfare, plan tickets, hotels, flights, last minute travel, places to visit

After taking my first few flights, I quickly learned what I needed and didn’t need on my flights. I’ve learned a few things about myself when packing my carry-on.

  • For long flights over 4 hours, I need entertainment! I can’t sit and do anything its painful and I struggle to sleep on airplanes unfortnatley.

  • I’d prefer to leave a lot behind that is ‘unnecessary’. It’s freeing to be a light traveler!

  • With that, I focus on essentials that make travel more comfy and less stressful.

  • I use a backpack as a carry-on more often than not. Especially when checking a bag.

So here is my list of what I bring on most flights.

Backpack.

The pack I use is the Wandrd PRVKE 31L backpack. I love this because I can pack my camera safely plus all of my other essentials.

It’s water-resistant, has a laptop and a tablet sleeve, removable internal organization, secure pockets for stuff like your wallet and passport, an expanded top to stuff your extra clothes, and much more!

So happy I made this upgrade I think my gear thanks me.

Camera.

I almost exclusively use Fujifilm now and it has been wonderful. I think Fujifilm cameras are perfect for traveling, they are mirrorless which means they take up less room, weigh lighter, and with the film simulations you get some awesome perfectly filmy photos. In my backpack, I pack my Fujifilm X-T3 and the two lenses I use the most. Along with extra batteries, chargers, and SD Cards.

Tech Pouch.

I always make sure I have all small tech and cables packed in this pouch. Stuff like chargers, extra batteries, SD cards, etc. I hate when all of it is loose in my bag and I can’t find the things when I need them.

Basic Toiletries.

Next, I make sure to pack any personal care items I may need during my travel day and also some things that I don’t want to put in my checked bag. Some items included lip balm, hand lotion, hand sanitizer, contact solution, contacts, medications, deodorant, toothbrush and toothpaste, face wash, and other skincare items, and lastly, some light make-up items. I pack all of the items in a little pouch about the size of a small makeup bag.

Entertainment.

To keep myself entertained so I don’t go crazy I bring my iPad and headphones. I also make a point leading up to my trip to download some movies, YouTube videos, or books so that I don’t have to rely on wifi to entertain myself. Always download a little more than you think you might need.

Travel Pillow.

I hated bringing one of those neck pillows on trips. They are so bulky, are too stiff and uncomfortable for me to use, that is until I found the Sea to Summit Aeros Inflatable Travel Pillow. It’s compact, I can adjust the air so it's not super stiff. This pillow solved all my problems with getting comfortable.

A change of clothes.

Next, I pack a change of clothes just in case. I try to make them casual but still somewhat put together. Since the clothes I tend to wear to the airport are comfortable clothes like matching sweatpants and sweatshirts, I figure I should have a nice outfit packed.

Other than the essentials like my passport, wallet with ID, and cash these are items I take with me on my carry-on. I hope this list was helpful to those of you who have a trip coming up.

Safe Travels.
